As a golfer, you will always have a special relationship with a golf club where you first started playing. Whether you are now a major champion or just a weekend golfer you will always be grateful to the place where you learnt the game and the people who helped you hit your first shots!

In this article, we review golf clubs that helped create England’s best players.

North Hants Golf Club, Fleet, Hampshire

NorthHantsThe 108 years old golf club West of London is the perfect place to relax. Designed by James Braid the championship course has been improved by the Legendary Harry Colt in 2013.

North Hants is home of one of the most famous amateur tournaments of the country, the Hampshire Hog, a tournament that has in its winner list names such as Sandy Lyle, Michael Bonallack and Justin Rose.

The 2013 US Open Champion Justin Rose is North Hants’ most popular member.

After his glorious win at Merion Golf Club, he went back to his old club to celebrate with his old friends and he found a surprise: the club house had a new room to remember his achievement with a reproduction of his winning score, memorabilia from the past and a replica of the US Open trophy. The Justin Rose room is also available to members for private functions.

Beaconsfield Golf Club, Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire

BeconsfieldIf you travel North of London, you can find a private club that has the honor to include in the member list a former world number one.

Luke Donald was the club champion when he was still a boy. From Beaconsfield, he went on winning 4 Ryder Cups and 16 tournaments including the 2011 WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship, and during that year he became the first player to top both European and PGA Tour money list.

Beaconsfield is an excellent parkland with some very challenging holes and a rich heritage. Built in 1902 from the vision of Colonel William Du Pre, the course has been designed by the great Harry Colt with the clubhouse designed by Stanley Hamp, one of London’s most prestigious architects.

Visitors are welcome at Beaconsfield from Monday to Friday and can request a tee time.

Burhill Golf Club, Hersham, Walton-on-Thames

BurhillBurhill Golf Club is located by Walton on Thames, and is made up of two courses: the Old Course designed by Willie Park Jnr and the New Course.

The New Course opened in 2001 and is built to the south of the clubhouse, occupying a land that was originally home to Burhill’s South Course which was given up for arable land during the Second World War. The course has been host to the Europro Tour for the last 5 years.

The Clubhouse is a stunning Georgian mansion which dates back to 1726. The building has a colorful history, it was destroyed by a fire and rebuilt. Now it is a delightful setting to relax and unwind after a round of golf.

Burhill is the home course of PGA Tour player and Ryder Cup star Paul Casey. The Englishman joined the club in 1992 and during that time, he won the 1995 Surrey Junior Championship and the 1997 Colts Championship. He is now honorary lifetime member of the club.
